Ivan Tse

I’m Ivan Tse. I build great software products end to end: the product thinking, the design, and the code that ships. I’ve been at it for twenty years, and I run Nerd Tower, my independent software studio in Petaluma, California.

The short history

I’ve built for companies like Twitch, Hipmunk, and Bebo in San Francisco, led engineering on mycharity: water in New York. I spent four years as the sole product, design, and engineering owner of the native iOS app for Sonato, a platform for private members clubs, including the Apple Wallet pass members tap to get into their club.

I ship my own apps too: Little Memory, a personal diary running since 2011 that Apple has featured three times, and Ready Time, an indie project that counts backward from when you need to leave.

The full record is in the portfolio; what I build for clients is on the services pages.

Off the clock

I grew up in Oakland, lived in San Francisco for 10 years, and am currently based in Petaluma. I collect flashlights. I was an anime nerd since the 90s, have studied in Kyoto and Chengdu, and speak Japanese, Cantonese, and (some) Mandarin.

Let's build it

I've got room for a few new projects. Tell me what you're working on and I'll write back with how I'd approach it.
