Building an app with an AI agent is a real accomplishment. It runs, the screens are there, and the demo looks right. Then the last stretch starts: a bug comes back after every fix, sign-in works for you and nobody else, and the App Store feels a long way off.

  • A bug the agent says it fixed, still there after a month of credits
  • A demo that works until someone else signs in
  • What you add only saves to your phone, so nobody else sees it
  • A feature that was built but does nothing
  • It works in the preview, and you're not sure how it gets to the App Store
  • App Review sent it back, and the reason doesn't make sense

First, an honest read

The agent that built your app will tell you it works. It checks its own work, so it passes every time. I review the code from the outside and write down what’s true: what works, what only looks like it works, and how far launch really is.

The usual places to look are where your users’ data is actually stored, features that were built and never connected, sample data that hides a broken flow, and errors that fail quietly instead of telling anyone. You get the read before you spend anything on building, so you can decide what to do next with real information.

Finishing can include

  • A written read on what you have
  • Sign-in and invites that work for everyone you share it with
  • Your data saved online, so it's there on any phone
  • Testing, and the bugs that keep coming back fixed for good
  • A test version for friends or early users before launch
  • App Store or web release, handled

Keep building, if you want to

You don’t have to stop using your tools. Plenty of people keep making changes with their agent after I’ve built the parts underneath. I build with AI coding agents myself every day, so I know where they do well and where they need a second look.

I've got room for a few new projects. Write to me and I'll reply with how I'd approach it. I read every message myself.
